Ventolin HFA is a short-acting beta2 agonist (SABA) metered-dose inhaler that contains albuterol. It delivers a quick-relief bronchodilator dose to open the airways during symptoms.
Ventolin HFA is used for fast relief or prevention of bronchospasm in reversible obstructive airway disease, and for prevention of exercise-induced bronchospasm in patients age 4 and older.
Albuterol relaxes airway smooth muscle quickly, which helps reduce wheezing, chest tightness, and shortness of breath during bronchospasm.
Ventolin should be used exactly as prescribed and is intended for quick relief of breathing symptoms, not long-term control. Overuse or reduced effectiveness may indicate worsening respiratory condition and should be reviewed by a healthcare provider.
Ventolin HFA is a rescue inhaler. Needing it more often than usual can be a sign of worsening asthma or poor control and should be reviewed with a prescriber.

What Is A Generic?
×A generic drug is essentially a copycat version of a brand-name medication, offering the same safety, quality, and effectiveness, but often at a lower cost. When a brand-name drug's patent expires, other companies can produce the generic version. These generics contain the same active ingredients and work in the same way in the body as the original brand-name drug. However, they might differ in color, shape, or inactive ingredients. The appeal of generic drugs lies in their affordability; they provide a more cost-effective option for consumers without sacrificing the benefits of the original medication. This makes healthcare more accessible to a larger portion of the population, ensuring that more people can receive the treatment they need without the burden of high costs associated with brand-name drugs.
