Do not use Multaq if:
- Permanent AF (cannot be cardioverted to sinus rhythm)
- Symptomatic heart failure with recent decompensation needing hospitalization, or NYHA class IV heart failure
- Second or third degree AV block or sick sinus syndrome (unless pacemaker present)
- Bradycardia under 50 bpm
- QTc over 500 ms or PR over 280 ms
- Severe hepatic impairment
- Pregnancy or may become pregnant, or breastfeeding
- Prior amiodarone related liver or lung toxicity
- Concomitant strong CYP3A inhibitors, or erythromycin
- Concomitant medicines or herbals that prolong QT and can trigger torsade de pointes
- Hypersensitivity to dronedarone or product ingredients

- Permanent AF use can increase death and stroke risk, rhythm checks are needed and therapy should be stopped if AF becomes permanent
- Heart failure can start or worsen, especially early, and may require stopping treatment
- Liver injury has been reported, report symptoms promptly
- Lung injury has been reported, report new or worsening cough or shortness of breath
- Heart rhythm slowing and QT prolongation can occur
- Kidney lab changes can occur after starting therapy, monitoring may be needed
