Eliquis is an oral anticoagulant (Factor Xa inhibitor) that contains apixaban.
Depending on the situation, Eliquis may be prescribed to:
Reduce the risk of stroke and systemic embolism in adults with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation
Help prevent DVT after hip or knee replacement surgery
Treat DVT and PE, and reduce the risk of DVT/PE coming back after initial treatment
Treat VTE and reduce recurrent VTE in pediatric patients (from birth and older) after at least 5 days of initial anticoagulant treatment
